Clan War... or Champions War?

Hey everyone,

Today, I want to focus on a key feature of the game: Clan Warfare.

How Clan Wars Work

In ClanCraft, when two clans clash, battles aren’t fought by armies but by champions, highly skilled warriors representing the might of their clans. The system relies on strategic choices:

  • Defenders can rely on fortifications like walls, towers, and fortresses to gain defensive dice.
  • Attackers bring siege weapons like catapults, rams, or trebuchets to break through defenses.
  • Each champion has one action per turn, which can involve using a structure, weapon, or direct combat. Success is determined by dice rolls against specific thresholds.

The system emphasizes planning, tactical decisions, and resource management, reflecting the brutal and competitive nature of the world.

My Thoughts and Concerns

While the champion-based combat works well and feels thematic, I can’t shake the feeling that it might be too focused on strategy. Battles are engaging, but they rely heavily on the math of dice rolls, thresholds, and bonuses. I’m wondering if this makes it less accessible or fun for players looking for a more narrative or fast-paced combat experience.

For example:

  • Should the system incorporate more dynamic, story-driven elements?
  • Is the balance between strategy and action too rigid?
  • How can we make battles feel more fluid without losing the tactical depth?

What Do You Think?

If you’ve read or played ClanCraft RPG, or even just have thoughts on the concept, I’d love to hear your feedback! What are your impressions of the Clan Warfare system? Do you think the champion combat system hits the right balance? How would you approach it?

Let me know your thoughts or suggestions. ClanCraft is designed to be shaped by the community, and your ideas are invaluable for making this game even better.

Looking forward to hearing your ideas!
