The sword in the pool (Ashcan)
A downloadable game
THE SWORD IN THE POOL
Britannia is magnificent.
The Round Table has never been stronger. Camelot shines. Tournaments fill the courtyards. Bards sing and people listen. Knights ride out and there's still magic in the air. Justice still means something. Chivalry still holds.
It's beautiful.
And we all know it's about to end.
Not tomorrow. But soon. The first shadows are appearing. Creatures at the borders that shouldn't exist. Whispers of nobles who might betray. Magic that hesitates. A distance in God's ear.
We're not playing after the fall. We're playing in these last days before it. When everything is still perfect. When we can still believe. When every tournament matters because we know only a few remain.
You're a Knight. A wolf, a raven, something with grace and steel. You're going to sit at a table and experience Britannia at its brightest—knowing it won't last.
And decide what you're willing to die for anyway.
This Comes From
The Pool by James Wallis. Where what players narrate becomes myth.
Oscura Minaccia, Giovanni's game from 2015. Where players build the world together.
This game: what if you played in the last golden days? What if every victory mattered because you knew time was running out? What if the system itself counted down toward twilight?
Giovanni made this in 2015. Raw. Released it and moved on.
Yesterday he talked with Alex about The Pool. Opened that old file. It was still there. Still asking the right questions. So he's putting it out now. Not polished. Not commercial. Exactly as it was. For you to play. Hack. Make yours.
What You Bring
15 dice per player. 2-4 players. 3-4 hours.
And the willingness to sit in those last perfect days and ask: what do I protect? What do I believe in? What matters?
The sword is in the pool. The kingdom shines. The twilight is coming. What do you do?
